Victus Coffee’s founder, José René Martínez, is a senior coffee roaster with more than 18 years of coffee roasting experience. As Connecticut’s most credentialed coffee roaster and founder of parent company, J.René Coffee Roasters, Inc., he has traveled the globe learning from the best, sourcing exceptional coffees, and sharing his knowledge with others.
Notable Achievements:
- Specialty coffee roaster with over 16,000 logged production roasts since 2006, responsible for all aspects of roasting and green coffee sourcing for both coffee brands.
- Owner and operator of J.René Coffee Roasters & Victus Coffee retail locations and online storefronts.
- Certified Q-Grader and SCA-certified Lab Inspector, completing inspections in Australia, Kenya, and Indonesia.
- Certified SCA instructor, taught Roaster Level 1 certification course in Antioquia, Colombia in 2014.
- Judged Coffee Santhe held by IWCA in Banglore, India in 2015.
